Here are the easy steps to follow to be able to bid on our auctions on Live Auctioneers.
Go to Liveauctioneers.com an click on the blue join button in the upper right hand side of the screen. Sign up for a free account, and you'll be eligible to register for any auction on LiveAuctioneers. See the sample page below, you may click on it to actually join now.
Register for the auction you want to bid at. Live Auctioneers hosts many different auction houses, and they each have their own terms and conditions, so you'll need to register with that auction house to bid at their auction. Again, we're looking for a blue box here when you locate the auction you want to participate in. This time the blue box says "Register for Auction" See the sample page below, you may click on it to actually join now. (PROVIDED THAT YOU HAVE SET UP A FREE LIVE AUCTIONEERS ACCOUNT IN STEP ONE.)
3. How to bid, Once you're registered, and have read the terms and conditions, (PLEASE DON"T SKIP, THEY ARE IMPORTANT) then you can bid. You'll see in the box above that live bidding starts in 8 days, 18 hrs, 22 minutes. However, you may leave an "absentee bid" or a "proxy bid" at any time before the live bidding begins.
Absentee/Proxy bidding: Enter your maximum bid amount and the software will ONLY increase your bid amount when there is a competitive bid against you. (A bit like eBay)
You can always increase your bid amount if you've been outbid.
Live Bidding: This is where it gets down to the nitty gritty! At a pre-determined time, the auction will go live - virtually. In the case above, the auction will start on Saturday, January 25th, at 1pm EST. Any registered bidders whether they have entered a proxy bid or not, may bid live online.
What Happens: The items will appear on the screen in order, a text box will pop up where the auctioneer will ask for bid amounts, give fair warning etc. Just like an in person auction! Once the auctioneer thinks all the bids are in, he/she will indicate it is SOLD! During this process, the bids may increase very quickly due to other bidders having set absentee or proxy bids. Bidding live is a LOT of fun and many people choose to do that.
Is it safe? Yes, Live Auctioneers protects the identity of bidders, hides credit card info from auction houses and keeps emails private. It been the leader in the online auction industry for many years, and bidder security is one of the biggest reasons for that.
