Participating in Our Auctions
Q: How do I find out about upcoming auctions?
Our website features a list of all upcoming auctions, complete with dates, times, and other relevant information. You can also sign up for our email newsletter to receive notifications directly.
Q: How do I register to bid in your online auctions?
Our online auctions are hosted on third-party bidding platforms, which require you to create an account and register in advance of the auction.
Q: How does online bidding work?
Once registered, you can place bids in two ways:
1. Absentee/Pre-Bidding: Place your maximum bid on items before the live auction starts.
2. Bid online/live against other bidders during the last day of the auction.
Q: Can I preview items in person before bidding online?
Yes, we encourage previewing items by appointment at our gallery before each auction. Once the auction is posted in preview mode, you may text us with a request to make an appointment for the specific items you wish to inspect. Send inspection requests to info@capeannauction.com
Q: What is a Buyer's Premium?
A buyer's premium is a percentage added to the winning bid amount.
Q: How do I pay for items I've won?
After the auction, your credit card on file will be charged for your invoice, and shipping if you've chose that option.

Q: How do I get my items after winning?
You can pick up your items in person at our gallery on the scheduled pickup day, make an alternative appointment, or arrange for shipping.

Q: How can I sell my items?

We offer complimentary, preliminary evaluations. Formal written appraisals have associated fees.

Our commission rates vary depending on the value of the items and the details of the situation.
Q: When do I get paid?
If we purchase outright, we pay you immediately. If we sell for your on consignment, checks are issued approximately 14 days after the auction.
